On April 14-15 the first of four total Lunar Eclipses occurred this is known as a Tetrad. A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the moon enters the shadow of Earth and gains a red glow. the reason for the red coloring is that no direct light is hitting the moon and what little light is hitting it passes threw the atmosphere, bending and thus turning red.
This was pretty cool to watch, the next three are going to all be visible to most of the United States on October 8 2014, April 29 2015 and October 23 2015.
