The scene at about 21 minutes into the film a scene shows President Reagan being controlled by the CEO of Merrill Lynch, and the dismantling of industrial infrastructure for the destruction of unions. The lay off of millions of people, and an increase of production by less workers. While the Richest had tax cut up to half. The workers wage kept its at the same low wage. Pharmaceutical greed caused the healthcare to raise greatly.
This Scene contains the song "O Fortuna," which is really well placed into the movie. mainly because of the words that it uses. The words of this song ft nicely into the scene as they describe how the middle and lower class americans at treated, how they aren't strong enough to control their fate, and their lives. The line "fate strikes down the strong man, Everyone weep with me" is full of meaning, and got to me the most. i fell that is is telling that even when one tries to stand up for whats right they will eventually fail.
O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing
and waning;
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
as the sharp mind takes it;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice.
Fate – monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
you are malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game
I bring my bare back
to your villainy.
Fate is against me
in health
and virtue,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating strings;
since Fate
strikes down the strong man,
everyone weep with me![3]
