Entry # 5 Wall-E Future as it Relates to Technology

A clip from the movie Wall-E

Can you imagine a future were we are completely dependent on Robots for every aspect of our lives.
From moving from one place to another, getting fed, being thought, and even getting our clothes color chosen.

In the movie Wall-E this is what the future has come to. In the beginning of the clip a man(John) falls out of his hover chair; over weight due to possibly no exercise and smoothie food drink when ever he wants, can't seem to get up looking like a turtle on his back.

This is a bit shocking, as you keep watching you can see that there are swimming pools, tracks, and paying attention John and his friend talked about a golf swinging course. This shows that the means to live a healthy fit life exists. Yet the technology that exists lets most people just sit around all day and do every thing from sleeping to eating and entertaining yourself, from the comfort of a chair.

In today's society we are easily influenced by what we see in the media, in the clip there was an announcement about trying blue, because "it's the new red," the people all quickly change there outfits to blue. this can already be seen today by what we all see threw the media. We will buy a new phone because its the newest and latest technological advancement, or change styles to match that of celebrities we like. We believe what is posted on the internet for most things, even if we don't see any sigh on authenticity.

The future with the help of technology could still take on a different turn. We could grow as a global community  into a UTOPIA. A society where everything we need is on our hands. sure this kind a future is yet to come but technology will play a great role in it's development.

The internet giving us knowledge and connection between many people world wide.

Medical equipment improving our medical practices, and prolonging our lifespans. As well as bettering our overall health.
Laboratory grown food, solving hunger and freeing up farmland for restoration of natural landscape. Which cleans our atmosphere of current pollutants. Clean fuels like Nuclear Fusion, wind, solar, and hydro.

Technology is there to help but it is up to us to use it in a way that will benefit our future

Entry # 4 Remenber?

What were you talking about just now?
Oh, sorry I know you just told me your name, but what was it again?
I know that I took out my phone for some reason other than Facebook. I left my room for a reason, hmmmm.
Why am I doing this again?
Ever studied for an exam and completely forgot all the topics and details you ingrained into your head, until after you turned in the exam?

Those are the kinds of thought that people are confronted with every day. Doing something important and going off in a different direction, getting distracted, for just a moment and completely forgetting what that important task was.

 Why is memory so unreliable?

Memory is now widely accepted to be a reconstruction of events, rather than a recording. Meaning that when you remember something you don’t just call up the specific event, you recall its components that make it up and then put them together. So there is a great chance for mistake. The memories may appear concrete but that doesn't mean they are perfect.

So how can you make the most of the tool you most rely on.

  • Good Exercise and Sleep
    • When one exercises there is more oxygen running threw the brain and this is very helpful to reduce disorders that can cause memory loss.
    • Sleeping well is a critical part in normal functionality. The deepest stage in the sleep Cycle(REM)  ´
  • Friends and Fun
    • Laughter is stimulates multiple areas of the brain.
    • Having fun and laughing will has been shown to

Entry #3 Technology is Changing our Future

We all live out daily life's knowing that one day we will die, we believe that our children have children of there own and then eventually die. We are able to live like this because we know that this is the natural course of life. However we don't stop to think that humans can go extinct, after all we are living organisms, we are susceptible to weather, disease, radiation, starvation, and extinction.

We won't be hunted down or lose our habitat, since we with our technology are top predator, and with our cities we have made our own unique habitats. But this technology that let us live out daily lives the way we do could very well be what ends our time here on earth.

Technology is defined as "A capability given by the practical application of knowledge." Today's technology involves computers, electricity, phones, the internetweaponsvehicles, bio-engineering, and so on.

Technology is there to help make some off our life much easier and also it is there to help entertain. some people use technology to help them live normal lives after accidents, or due to health complications.

Technology is also being used in war, created for the purpose of annihilation, intimidation and death. Criminals use technology to steal identities, money, and information.

The following video Professor Michio Kaku, One of my favorite Physicists and Role Models explains how today's technology can negatively and positively affect future generations and even current populations of people in the world.

Now I hope, as a futurist myself, that we can survive and become a Type 1 Civilization.
Technology is growing to unite into one society. Technology is also growing to a point where it can destroy us. The use of nuclear bombs, Bio-weapons, run away green house effects are all things that can wipe people off the face of the earth. I don't know about you but I am more terrified by humans causing self inflicted disaster rather than nature causing a disaster.  Here Is a link about the darkest points of technology if you have time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTi4v3HveqE Again the video is by Michio Kaku.
