BUUUZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!

Have you ever thought about Bees? And How Important they are to you?

No? Well Believe it or not these Small insects are very important in your life. You might be familiar with the famous Honeybee and the infamous Killerbee. If you can't tell the difference then your out of luck, best advice i can give is just leave them alone.

So what is the importance of these Bees? Well first of all you should know that there are over 20,000 species of bees. Most live in hives that consist of the Queen, the Drones, and the Workers. The queen has only one responsibility, which is to lay eggs. The Drones who only need to worry about mating with the Queen. The Workers all female and with the inability to reproduce; they clean the hive, collect pollen and nectar to feed the colony.

Bees pollinate our crops, they are responsible for pollinating over 100 agricultural crops in the united states alone. A Rough estimate in Arizona is that Bees produce nearly $7 Billion dollars worth of crop a year. A study at cornell University showed that the Bee industry accounts for over $24 billion dollars a year.

However a resent phenomena known as Colony Collapse Disorder(CCD) has begun to have serious consequences on Farming and bee production. CCD is relatively new, first case being after fall of 2006. Many theories all formulate ideas as to why these bees are disappearing with out any trace, like Pests, Pesticides, Stress, and Pathogens. but in the end it just may be a mixture of all these factors.
